To both the shock of Ren and Lavenza, Igor had apologized, something that the former had never expected to hear and something that the latter knew was like pulling teeth for him. “I apologize, Trickster, it seems I have once again placed you in an unjust game.” Lavenze, who stood nearby, knew that her master would lay no harm upon any of his guests, but the level of disrespect the Trickster was showing could only lead to– “Is that what’s required of me, god of the Velvet Room!?”Ī silence settled over the room, despite the ringing left from Ren’s dangerous accusation. “What does this mean for me?” Ren asked quietly, “My job was to lay the groundwork, that’s what you implied, but now you’re telling me that I’m stuck here? Living in a body that isn’t my own, side-by-side with someone else in my head?” ![]() As deeply as he possibly could while within a realm between Everything and Nothing with the limited time given to him. Ren blinked, looking at Igor as if he had grown a third eye, which wouldn’t have surprised him in the least, thinking deeply about what he was hearing now. “In a sense,” Igor agreed, “while my initial words were not wrong, it seems that your psyches have begun to separate from each other, forming a type of symbiotic relationship that only reveals itself in moments of heightened emotions.” Now, emotional discourse and the forced awakening of your persona have caused you both to exist independently.” Igor hummed, “As you know, your travel was supposed to work in a way that would leave the young Yoshizawa girl with your memories, and eventually, you would fade– Do not interrupt me again, Ren Amamiya, we all know well of your hope to perish,” he fixed a glare on the Trickster, who withered and nodded, not refuting the statement by Igor, “As I was saying this has not happened, instead Sumire’s psyche has manifested in another way, due to being a Wildcard on the same wavelength as yourself. Ren blinked, releasing some of the tension in his frame, “What do you mean?” The unification and overlap of the same Wildcard was something never before seen, and as such, this falls squarely on my shoulders.” It’s this, however, that caused the problem. “I simply failed to see the complications,” Igor continued, ignoring the outburst from the Wildcard, “what I stated is true, Sumire Yoshizawa is you, and you her, counterparts in the most perfect harmony. Igor considered the one before, not quite man, not quite woman, with cold calculation. ![]() “Enough! I’m not playing your games, Igor, tell me why you lied to me!” “You lied to me,” Ren growled while pointing at the master of the Velvet Room, to which the god– man, could only raise his hands in mock surrender. ← Previous Work Part 3 of Persona: United Next Work → Stats: Published: Updated: Words: 41992 Chapters: 8/?
